Does Fidget Jewellery Work?

Updated: Mar 4

Learn a bit about how fidget jewellery works for Silver & Fern customers.

What exactly do they do? How on earth do they work? Will it really help me?

Read on to find out!

So... how do they work?

So, it is pretty simple really, all fidget jewellery comprises of moving parts that the wearer can move around and play with to take their mind off whatever is worrying them now. Fidget jewellery is perfect if you have anxiety or other mental health disorders, those who bite their nails or pick their skin - but it's not at all limited to just these, it can help so many people!

At Silver & Fern, I create fidget jewellery with beads or tiny rings, these are usually made to move around on a silver band. My best seller is the original fidget ring with a smooth silver band and 5 beads that can move around the whole band. I'm also working behind the scenes on some new fidget jewellery pieces including more pendant styles.

Should I get some?

My fidget rings are the most popular items in my online store and have been since I started my journey in jewellery making! My customers purchase them to help them with various things including:

  • Anxiety

  • Skin picking

  • Nail biting

  • Trichotillomania

  • PTSD

  • OCD

  • ADHD

  • Autism

It can help with so much more but these are the things that my customers have said they bought their piece of fidget jewellery for.

What my customers say

My customers are always so happy with their fidget jewellery. You can read some of the reviews in full on my Google business page.

"It's beautiful love the spinning beads that I can fiddle with to occupy my hands, its adjustable too which is brilliant"

"Even if I don't feel like wearing much jewellery I will wear my anti-anxiety ring. Its such good quality, so pretty and does its job so well"

"I love mine, wear it every single day, can't be without it now!"

"Really love mine - such a brilliant idea, it's definitely helping to keep my hands busy"

"I can't believe I've gone this long without an anxiety ring. can't stop playing with it and I know it'll be good when I'm really anxious."

How it helps me

I wear the triple rolling ring every single day and haven't taken it off since I first made it a year and a half ago. I struggle with depression and anxiety and have done on-and-off for many years but by having a fidget ring on my finger, I find myself gently playing with it and feeling more at ease. I roll it up and down my finger when my mind starts wandering or I feel I am in an uncomfortable situation. Sometimes I find myself rolling it around just because I find it calming!

I also wear an original fidget ring and find the beads so calming to play with - I count them: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and *breathe*. I would recommend a fidget ring to anyone who fidgets or gets overwhelming thoughts and needs something to help settle.

It is not a cure for your mental health

People are always searching for a cure for things but unfortunately, there isn't always one. Yeah, I know it isn't great to hear that... like, sure there is no cure for anxiety but there are many different coping mechanisms and techniques which you can do to help get yourself back on track. Maybe trying out a piece of fidget jewellery, such as a Silver & Fern fidget ring, to help with those stressful and anxious times, your life might become a little easier to understand and handle.

Whilst wearing fidget jewellery is not going to cure you of your underlying diagnoses, it will certainly help to calm you down in stressful times. Why not try one for yourself? As a thank you for checking out this blog post, you can grab 15% off any item in the fidget jewellery range with the code SFBLOG.

I will always recommend getting out in nature even if it is just for 10 or 15 minutes, to clear your mind and de-stress - do it daily if you can!

To sum up, they are worth trying if:

  • You have panic attacks

  • You struggle with anxiety
